On Friday August 22, 2025, the cross was removed from Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Earlier in the week, Monday, the cross was observed leaning towards Youngstown Ave. The cross was removed for potential safety reasons. The Archdiocese of Baltimore will most likely hold off on repairing until resolution of the SHM Vatican Appeal .
